Linux From Scratch

Has anyone used Linux form Scratch (LFS)?

I have downloaded the live CD but when I look at the book and the commands it says to type in don't work!

Anyone have any clue why it is doing this and is there alternative guide I could use?

LFS is a great tool; you must want to be a serious linux h4x0r.
Most problems come from not booting from the Live CD. What programs/commands are you having trouble with?

It will not make the WORK shortcut meaning that I can't do anything beyond that point. I did try putting the folder that shortcut WORK uses but again it didn't work.

I haven't tried using LFS for a couple weeks now. Do you think I could use Gentoo instead?

If LFS doesn't want to work?
