Well if you want to use a TV as your monitor, I suggest that you use an LCD or plasma. You could use an "old school" TV but I would not suggest you do that.
I had my 22inch LCD connected with my 19 inch monitor so I could have more space for photo, video, and music editing. To do this, I swapped out my graphics card and installed one with dual VGA ports. You can see what this involves as I did this modification for Scott's computer in the Kaczor's episode. (If you are just going to use the TV as the monitor, you dont need to get a dual vga or dvi graphics card.)
Your LCD TV should have a VGA or DVI port in the back. If it doesn't you will need to convert your video type to one that is supported by your computer. I would love to know what TV you had in mind, and I can let you know what you will need.
Thanks,
Lloyd E. :)

Thank you, Guru Lloyd! I have to admit a lot of what you said is Greek to me. I guess I was hoping I could just plug the new TV into my computer. I was thinking about getting one of those flat-screen TVs like they're giving away with that Fios promo, but probably a bigger one than those.

I have another question for a Guru. I would like to get a bigger screen for my computer but they are very expensive. A friend of mine told me I could use a TV instead.
So, my question is: is this possible, and if so, is it something I could do myself, or will I have to hire a "geek" to come to my house and do it for me?
Thanks for the help!
