'More Bang for the Buck'

Jun 28, 2008

TV industry veteran Marianne Paskowski posted a compelling blog on TV Week -- "FiOS: More Bang for the Buck"-- about a friend dropping her cable triple-play service in favor of FiOS, which offered more channels for less money.

Said Paskowski, "When she called Cablevision to cancel, she stopped them dead in their tracks when the customer service reps were going to offer her incentives to stay the course.

Which raises the question: How come cable companies aren’t willing to wheel and deal until it’s too late?"

That's a really good question. Could it be that a lot of these companies aren't used to wheeling and dealing, because they've historically been the only game in town? I don't know...what's your take?
