It was announced today that New York City's Franchise and Concession Review Committee (FCRC) voted unanimously to approve Verizon's plan to make FiOS TV service available to all five city boroughs.

This marks a major step towards Verizon's plan to have the entire city wired for FiOS by the middle of 2014; according to today's press release, only a couple more approvals remain -- confirmation of the agreement by the Mayor's Office and the New York State Public Service Commission.

Since a lot of the work on My Home 2.0 gets done from an office in downtown Manhattan, I know a bunch of my co-workers must be stoked at the prospect of getting FiOS anywhere in the city...but what about the rest of you Noo Yawkas out there -- what will having FiOS in the neighborhood mean to you?
