New 2.0 Stars Ready for Some Sizzle

May 19, 2008

Abington, PA (near Philly) -- mark your calendar for Saturday, June 7. The Techno-Gurus will be cooking up something special for this family of culinary wizards, and you can see their tech makeover revealed live!

Get to know the Wurtzes, and leave a comment for our show hosts below!

Joe and Mary Wurtz share a love of good food and good family. Someday they'll  open a restaurant of their own. But for now, their children John (14), Daniel (11) and Genevieve (8) come first. That means Mary and Joe put their talents into a home-based catering operation, while also keeping busy with their kids' sports and working at their school.

Both Joe and Mary have culinary degrees -- the two met while Joe was working as a line cook in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, their home catering business lacks the technological spice to really give it the kick they need. Mary has to run next door to print menus and is the first to admit that her pricing scheme falls to pot because she has no place to point people online for a breakdown of menus and other options.

Mary dreams of creating menus and a site with fixed pricing. (Joe, who does the books, agrees.) Their 8-year-old computer -- that is haunted by the files of the dead guy who must have had it before them -- just isn't up to the task. They're already weary of overusing the invitation from caring neighbors to use their computer whenever they need it.

The Wurtzes know they can get by with their business but their real tech concern is for the children. Mary and Joe don't want their kids falling behind, and are ready to give them the tools they'll need for a bright future.

So what's YOUR recipe for the Wurtz Home 2.0?

We want to hear what you think Alison, Brian and Lloyd should create for our next family -- share your thoughts in the comments below!

Wurtz family: you are in for a treat when Michele brings her camera to your block party -- she has a fantastic eye, and you will love seeing her pics afterwards

Congrats Wurtz Family! Suggest BettyCrocker.com for posting recipes for Mary. As for the "Haunted" computer, I recommend Sure Delete (www.wizard-industries.com). It's getting late, so I'm going to head up. Good Night, and Good Luck.

t3h badg3r! Great to hear from you again, buddy. You always know the exact right software to help people out...but I have a feeling their old computer might be looking for a new house to haunt once the Gurus are done!

So are you coming to the Wurtz party as well? It was great meeting you and your parents at the Word party, would love to hear more about some of your cool computer projects.
