Update from the Davies family

Apr 02, 2008

I love hearing stories of people getting an instant return on their good karma, like this one, forwarded on to me from Liza, our casting director from last season.

You may recall that last fall, the Davies family came very close to being chosen to star in My Home 2.0 -- they weren't ultimately picked, but the whole casting experience was very positive nonetheless, and led to a fantastic turn of events.

Then this week, one family member's good deed brought the Davies clan back into the world of My Home 2.0 once again...

---

I have a quick, amusing story for you that I have to try to tell before Ed and Ren discover that I am actually having free time.  Ha ha...

On Monday night, AJ was at soccer practice in a nearby section of the City of Pittsburgh.  After practice, he found a cell phone on the ground and picked it up because it was supposed to rain that night.  It was too late to contact the owner, but the next day, we called and the woman stopped by our house to pick it up.  We talked for a few minutes, and as it turns out, she is the sister of our friend whose family got the My Home 2.0 techno upgrade in November!  I had been thinking when we started talking that she had the same accent as Beth Jesserer, but I thought they must just be from the same place in New York.

I called Beth to tell her that I'd met her sister and to share the story with her, and she told me that they are auditioning again for My Home 2.0.  So I sent in another application because this time we own our house and this time, we really need an upgrade!  The house is a bit bigger than our rental, so when we are tied down to one place, we are not usually near the kids.

I just thought it was really funny that here AJ was just trying to be a good kid and save someone the misery of losing a cell phone, and it turned out as a chance to reapply for the Verizon technological upgrade.  It also brought back fond memories of our time in the screening process and of the Jesserer's block party, which I think I would have enjoyed more if AJ hadn't been at Scout camp and if I had realized that I could, indeed, play Guitar Hero without totally embarrassing myself!

Ed, in the meantime, has had his own brush with video production when he participated in the local high school's filming ,"Every 15 Minutes," an anti-drinking-and-driving video.  He was also recently on the news for procuring pet oxygen masks for the fire engines so that we can try to resuscitate animals at fire scenes.

Just thought I would share the story with you! I hope that all is well for you and that you are enjoying a life of coast-to-coast commuting with some breaks to relax now and then!

Peace,

Patty D.

Good luck to Patty and the rest of the Davies family -- maybe second time will turn out to be the charm!
