For once, "fine print" ended up actually heralding something great, not the typeset equivalent of fingers crossed behind backs that people often expect nowadays.
Today mouseprint.org, a consumer advocacy blog dedicated to "exposing the strings and catches buried in the fine print," examined two FiOS print ads -- one current and one from last year -- noting that in the new one the company "buried the most important fact in the fine print:
Verizon actually quadrupled the download speed and more than doubled the upload speed for only $10 more a month (plus a “free” HDTV), when you sign a two-year contract.
For once, the mouse print had good news for customers."
Of course, it's always a good idea to read the "mouse print" and keep an eye out for surprises, but it's not often you actually find surprises of the pleasant variety there, huh? (By the way, for a good chuckle, check out mouseprint's Retail Ads: What Were They Thinking?)
