Update: FiOS HD Boxes

Good News/Bad News

Feb 08, 2008

Due to the recent explosion of demand for FiOS HDTV service, Verizon has temporarily run out of high-def Set Top Boxes and DVRs. I spoke to a Verizon exec today, and he confirmed that the recent rumors you may have heard are true. The company is working closely with Motorola to get some more of the HD boxes and DVRs cranking ASAP, but it's probably going to be a few weeks before they arrive.

In the mean time, though, Verizon will give you a free standard-definition Set Top Box or DVR, so this temporary shortage definitely shouldn't discourage you from ordering FiOS TV soon...especially because:

a) The picture quality of even standard-definition FiOS TV will still probably blow you away, and,
b) The clock is ticking on the limited-time free 19" LCD HDTV deal. (See verizon.com/savebig for more details.)
