MY NEWS 2.0

A few days back Guru Brian shared with us his car of the future. His design is built "Green" as it emits no pollutants into the atmosphere. He and I share this dream of a greener future, where we are less dependant on dwendling natural resources.

I to have a plan for the car of the future. It all started 3 years ago when I was working at Motorola. My commute to work everyday was about an

hour. At the time the main Highway was under construction and my detour route frequently changed due to traffic. This daily headache led to the creation of the Cartroller Project.

No show is ever truly put on by one person, and this was never more the case in Ft. Wayne where we had the support of these excellent folks.  Without them we couldn't have done it, so we would like to take a moment to tip our hats, incline our heads, and offer up our most sincere thanks for all their help...

As Thanksgiving approaches, it's only appropriate that we give a little thanks of our own to some of the great companies in Ft. Wayne and beyond who helped us put together the Royer show. So without further ado, we would like to thank...

In this troubled economy with the Automotive Industry failing, One car Company stands alone ready to buck the tide and flip it's nose up at the face of adversity, I'm talking about none other then the HMH (Heavy Metal Handyman) Car Company.

HMH is poised to release the Fully and Completely absolute 0 Emission car on the planet!! We call it the ZAHARKO 11 or the Z11 for short.

The weather doesn't often turn cold here in my part of the world, but when the mercury drops below 60 degrees, my family and I bundle up against the chill and start looking for warm things to do.  As I spent a quiet afternoon last weekend teaching my two young daughters how to knit, I reflected that we really were blessed in these uncertain times and began looking around to see if there were ways to put those precious commodities - the ability to knit and the time to do it - to work for others who are not as lucky.  Wouldn't you know it, there are a ton of charities that will accept hand-made goods, be they knit, crocheted, quilted, or sewn...

Its that time of the week again!

No, It's not Peanut Butter and Jelly time. Its time for my pick of Tech Joke of the Week. This week I am sharing something a little more personal.

Engineers are known for thinking outside the box. Well this holds true when thinking of Pick-Up Lines as well.

"Girl, you're sweeter than Glucose!"

Philly wants FiOS!

Nov 14, 2008

My fellow Philadelphians! Let freedom ring!

Liberty is defined as the condition of being free from strict control. However the city that houses the Liberty Bell has had its liberties restricted when it comes to Television Choice.

There is a revolution upon us and it is taking place on a piece of glass the size of a single strand of human hair. It is time that we stand up to the monopolies that dominate our choice for quality Television Service!

(AP)Thursday, November 12th, Verizon asked the City Council of Philadelphia to approve a 15 year video franchise agreement, allowing it to offer FiOS TV in the city. Councilman Darrell Clarke introduced an ordinance to give Verizon the right to run a cable TV service, a measure the council is expected to vote on by the end of the year.

For the good folks of Philadelphia, and the "Ph"ans of My Home 2.0 in Philly who have been watching our show, you are one step closer to having the FiOS power you need to "2 point 0" your home!

Alumni from the High School of Engineering Professions in Houston Texas (or HSEP) have formed a Graduate organization for their beloved Alma Mater. I--being an honored graduate of the program--extended my hand in helping bring the organization to life. Recent changes at the school may affect some of the programs that help so many students succeed. These changes, for example, have sparked protests to save certain falculty and ciriculum that if were not in place, I would not be the "guru" that I am today.

Alison's fiber optic hat. Brian's pipe organ chair. Your family's totally sweet hand turkeys and acorn wreaths. What can you do if you want to share these labors of love with the whole world?...

Gobble Gobble

Nov 11, 2008

I'm going to make a confession to you: sometimes the thought of Thanksgiving fills me with dread at the amount of planning and work in store for me, instead of joy for the time I get to spend with my family. I'm sure I'm not alone, nor am I the only one who feels guilty about it. It's a rough transition moving from being a kid, when holidays are magical and just happen, to being an adult and realizing how much planning goes in to making them happen!

But all is not lost. If your place mats and napkin rings don't perfectly coordinate with your cornucopia centerpiece, do you really think that Uncle Jim and Aunt Esther are really going to notice? And even if they do, so what? Let Thanksgiving be about spending quality time with the ones you love. It just so happens that you can have the best of both worlds: bonding with your children and sprucing up the house for Thanksgiving...

Guru Brian's B-day

Nov 10, 2008

Well I'm a little late but I figured I'd show everybody that was wondering, what I was for Halloween.  You see as a Heavy Metal Guru you are expected to go above and beyond the mere department store costumes.  And of course my love of the mechanical madness that is animitronics makes for a great culmination of technology and tactile wizardry.
